Our actions and purchases make an impact on the environment everyday. From buying single use plastic products you add to the growing plastic pollution. This small piece of plastic eventually ends up in the Pacific Garbage Patch or into the stomachs and/or nostrils of sea animals.

Out of all the pollution in the world’s ocean, 80%-90% are from plastic waste and plastic straws remain in the top ten plastic products found in the ocean.

Scientists have been tracking plastic ingestion by seabirds for decades. In 1960, plastic was found in the stomachs of fewer than five percent, but by 1980, it had jumped to 80 percent. (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/09/15092-plastic-seabirds-albatross-australia/)
